Step 1:
When you order this item from a fast food restaurant, you often receive your fries in a cardboard box with a large opening. With that, we’ll start with this first step of our guide on how to draw french fries. These boxes have a similar shape and structure no matter which restaurant chain you visit, and this design has them tall and quite flat. First, draw slightly diagonal lines for the sides of the box, then connect them with an inward curved line for the bottom of the box. Once you’ve drawn this, we’ll move on to the next step in the guide to add even more to the box.
Step 2:
This second part of this french fries drawing will allow you to finish the box’s outline and add some details. Draw a curved line across the box near the top to create the box opening. There will always be an open edge at the top, but that’s where we’ll draw the fries later. Before moving on to the third step of the guide, add two vertical straight lines inside the box. Then we’ll be ready to move on!
Step 3:
A box of crisps is good, but it’s even better when you have something inside! For this reason, we will add the first fries in this step of our guide on how to draw fries. Each fry choice is marked as a long rectangular form. Then there will be a small square above each, with a line running down the fry from the inside corner. The reference photo will show you what we tell if that sounds illogical. Then complete this step by adding a simple hatch effect to the bottom right of the box. Once you’ve added those 6 fries and the box details, we can move on to step four.
Step 4:
You’ve drawn six fries so far for this fries drawing, and in this next step, we’ll add six more. These fries will mostly go to the left and center of the box. Some will also go behind others, adding depth to the image. Otherwise, they will look the same as the old ones. Once drawn, we can add the final details and elements in the next step of the guide.
Step 5:
You are now ready to finish this picture’s final details and elements to get ready for some fun coloring in the next step of our how-to-draw french fries guide. To do this, we will fill the last empty spaces with more fries. These will look like the others you have drawn and fill the box’s left side. Once they are drawn, you can also add additional details and ideas. One idea would be to draw a background; if you did, it could show what other foods or drinks you’d like to enjoy with those fries. How will you finish this drawing before adding some color to it?
Step 6:
This last step of your fries drawing will allow you to finish it with a little color! For the fries themselves, we used a few shades of yellow to color them. For the box, we used reds to give the box a nice bright color palette. You can use these colors, but you must use any colors you like to create your perfect fries design! If you have red or yellow acrylic paint, you can use thick applications of those mediums to make those fries look like ketchup or mustard. How will you finish this image with your colors and art media?
