Jekyll Island’s historical site, Horton House, previously used to be the plantation life center. Built by a second commander Mj. William Horton after the well known James Oglethrope, a British General. The house ruins still exist and are open to the public for free every day. View the architecture of the Faith Church
Whether you believe in religion or not, the architecture of the Faith Church on Jekyll Island is a must-see. This place was built in the year 1904 and was originally used as a non-denominational church. It has an amazing architecture with stained Armstrong glass windows, animal carvings and gargoyles. You can visit the church for free from 8 am to 10 am every day. For excursions, you can buy tickets for $5 or by any other historic landmark area tour and visit the church for free.
Tackle through island history at the Jekyll Museum
Jekyll Island Museum is not only a good place to start visiting the island to learn more, but it is also completely free. Inside, you will find artifacts and photos that tell the past of Jekyll Island, including its role as a winter resort for some of the most elite families in the United States. The museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm, and there is also a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs.
