Ten Tips for Effective Hiring

Effective Hiring Tough economic times have led to corporate downsizing and a number of individuals are now back on the market. This does indeed increase the pool of candidates but it also means that you have to be much more careful in selecting your new employees. After all, the stakes are high and recruitment mistakes can be very costly.


There are a number of strategies that can be applied at this time to increase the effectiveness of your recruitment and selection success. These include the following:

Understand job impact –

be sure to take time to re-examine the duties and responsibilities of each job and ensure that the job still supports your organization’s key objectives. This is especially important if you have recently completed any restructuring or downsizing.

Apply a consistent search process – the increased number of candidates in a tough market is also leading to more aggressive competition. In this kind of situation, you may also confront with more complaints about process. Be sure that your strategy and process is consistent so that each candidate is treated fairly and treated the same. This is not the time for a discrimination lawsuit.

Involve the right people –

Train your interviewers –
